EVENT: Hands of Peace - In the Light of Rumi – Benefit Performance

DETAILS: Many gathered to enjoy the soulful performance organized to benefit the building of schools in Afghanistan. More than 35 performers gathered to present 28 pieces ranging from instrumentals on the flute, violin, nay, oud, accordion, and eurythmy, to national and international songs, dances, and much more. An eagerness to unite during these difficult times motivated artists from different nationalities, regardless of their cultural, national, historical, or religious background to set aside differences and conflicts and to join in the vision projected by AAWO to build bridges between people and promote peace. All of the proceeds were given to the Jerrahi Order of America located in Chestnut Ridge, New York, to help in the construction of an elementary school in Kabul. The school serves over 360 elementary school students. Both boys and girls fill the classrooms, which fit no more than 30 students each.
