EVENT: Inauguration of the AAWO Office

DETAILS: AAWO celebrated the inauguration of its offices on Oct. 23rd, 2001,a date marking the 110th anniversary of the activities and lives of Motrat Qiriazi, the first Albanian women educators to advocate on behalf of women’s issues. Albanian flutist Mimoza Cakrani opened the event with her magical music. Food and drinks were served while people engaged in a wide range of conversations. Part of the evening was devoted to remembering the lives and efforts of Motrat Qiriazi (Qiriazi Sisters). Special guest, Professor Dhimiter Dishnica, a renowned author and biographer living in Worcester, Massachusetts, outlined the activities of the Qiriazi Sisters stressing their dedication to improving the lives of Albanian women in Albania. The evening ended with the comments of Mr. Dishnica and discussions about the future of AAWO. |
