Greetings,
 Year 2008 marks the
15th Anniversary of the Albanian American Women’s Organization
(AAWO). Reflecting in retrospect we find true validation in our
accomplishments. Thanks to
your continued support, together we have further improved the lives of
Albanian-American women and children by promoting individual empowerment and
self-sufficiency via outreach endevours, literature series, sisterhood
encouragment and external partnership with media venues and other supporters who
find common enthusiasm in our mission and related causes.
As
we embark upon a new
phase of service to our community, AAWO faces new challenges. While there
is an increased demand for our presence and services amongst members of our
community, we are unable to respond effectively because of a series of
deficiencies – a decrease in monetary funds
inflow, lack of technical equipment; outdated computer database of membership and other
resource data; complexity of issues presented by visitors in need; building
trust and confidentiality in addressing those needs; unavailability of time and
space; interruption of services because of insuffient staff and funds; inability
to fundraise effectively and consistently – to mention a
few.
At this critical
time your participation is imperative in sustaining our presence in the
community and yet being able to achieve new milestones. In past we have
encountered numerous success stories; i.e. the ‘Tragedy Fund’ has impacted many
Kosovar children seeking medical intervention in the States; wives in the
tri-state area experiencing domestic abuse; and immigrant
mothers assimilating into a new way of life, etc. Our collective efforts
can engender new success stories and act upon the needy voices in our community
that have yet to be heard.
